Political-administrative organization of the territory

The territory on which the PortoDeiPiceni is concentrated is divided administratively into 80 municipalities ("comune") that are part of two provinces ("provincia") of Ascoli Piceno [it] Coat of arms of the Province of Ascoli Piceno and Teramo [it] Coat of arms of the Province of Teramo), of two different regions (Marche and Abruzzo), located in central Italy.

Until 2004, the province of Ascoli Piceno included other 33 municipalities which then passed to the new province of Fermo ; a page has been dedicated to these municipalities

Other administrative divisions

Considering the municipality the basic administrative entity, in addition to the regions and provinces there are other forms of aggregation of municipalities:

  • Unioni di Comuni [it] (some of which were previously Mountain Communities), which arose following the reorganization of local autonomies.
  • Local labor systems [it] identified by Istat
  • Diocesi [it] for the administration of Catholic worship, with the Vescovi.
  • Tribunali, for territorial jurisdiction in the administration of justice
  • Capitanerie di Porto di San Benedetto del Tronto (with Uffici Marittimi Locali in Cupra Marittima and Delegazione di Spiaggia di Grottammare) and Pescara (with Ufficio Circondariale Marittimo of Giulianova and the UML of Silvi, Roseto, Tortoreto e Martinsicuro)
